So, we finally set out on our epic journey! We left Denver on Monday, the 2nd. The drive up to Jackson was great... great weather and great views of the Wind Rivers and the Absarokas; we also saw some good birds- Golden eagles and Ferruginous hawks. We arrived just in time for '24' on Mon. nite. Tuesday, we skied Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The conditions were less than ideal... hardpack. They haven't had snow in several days. We did a couple runs in the resort backcountry that were great! It was also cool to ride the new tram; that thing holds 100 people! It was a beautiful sunny day and we just soaked in the incredible views! After skiing, we went into Jackson and picked up some Jackson Hole gear (T-shirts/stickers).
Today, we went up into Grand Teton National Park. We decided to save $87, and not ski the resort; so we did a ski tour near Phelps Lake, in the park. We climbed 1500+ ft. and got a great run with much better snow than the resort. After skiing, we grove north a bit and took some pics of the Tetons. It was another beautiful day! Tomorrow we ski Grand Targhee before going on to Sun Valley, ID. I'm really looking forward to seeing Idaho, since neither of us have been there before; it will begin a long stretch of brand new country for both of us.
Please pray for safety for us as we are both skiing and driving.
Until next time...
